Germantown vs. Collierville was a great matchup Friday night as the Red Devils faced a tough Dragon team on the road. The game was all about defense as the low scoring game was expected in front of a sold-out crowd. If you were looking for offense it came from Germantown Senior Quarterback Cordero Walker. Very impressive display of leadership and game management.
The 6-foot-0 Quarterback passed for two great big time touchdowns. All where in the first half as he led Germantown to a 14-0 lead at the end of the first half. Germantown Defense was hungry and ready for the matchup.
It was a nightmare game for Collierville Senior Quarterback Aidan Glover as he is the best senior quarterback in Memphis. The future Missouri prospect was getting pressure from a tough defensive line that sacked him four times. The defense caused fumbles and picked off Aidan as the Dragons had two interceptions and two fumbles.
Germantown has two of the best senior prospects in DJ Allen who will be taking his talents to the University of Central Florida. Allen had a big-time sack on Glover forcing him out of the pocket. Versatile lineman Kison Shepherd who plays defensive line and offensive line was amazing and could not be stopped.
Kison Shepherd is heading to Mississippi State University next season this young man is a coach’s dream player. What’s impressive about him is that he also plays punter. 6-foot-6 weighing 275lb with the ability to move around the field and not get tired speaks volumes about his commitment to being great.
Germantown allowed one touchdown which was a 5-yard run by Quarterback Aidan Glover. The second-half momentum was shifting towards the dragons as they kept the game close also forcing a fumble that could have cost Germantown the game. The final score was 14-7 as the Devils picked off a pass that won the game with 1 minute left. Germantown has never beaten Collierville since Head Coach Gene Robinson has been the coach. The victory was significant for the seniors as they focused on winning a state championship.
