Houston vs. Germantown in the Spotlight

Date:

These two teams came to play, and the game was exemplary from start to finish. Junior standout for Houston High School DJ Miller was terrific. The 5-foot-11 cornerback/wide receiver never came off the field as he had two interceptions as a corner and helped Pick up over 50 yards receiving. One of the interceptions was picked off, where he ran for 97 yards. Miller was only 1 yard away from scoring. He was not alone, as on the other side of him was another standout juniorprospect named Andre Allen, whose father played basketball for the University of Memphis. The secondary for Houston is excellent at covering receivers. They didn’t give Germantown a real opportunity to get any good field position.

Germantown got good news when Cordero Walker a junior Quaterback transferred in from Haywood County. The 6-foot-0 athlete has been a spark for the Red devils as he can hurt you with his arm and feet to pick up yards. Walker helped lead his team to a (14-13) win against the Mustangs on their home field. It was Walkers ‘s 40-yard rushing touchdown that kept the lead to help seal the victory.
On defense, Germantown High School is led by DJ Allen a 6-foot-5 senior who will be taking his talents to the University of Central Florida. Allen made sure his team would not let up during crucial moments. It was the running game that was key for both programs. Houston High School has one of the best running backs in the city asenior Damon Sisa.

Sisa might not be the biggest running back on the field. His heart and speed keep you focused on what he brings to the football field. Sisa tried his best to help his team after he scored at the time was a gam-changing touchdown, but the extra point was blocked. Which gave Germamtown a 14-13 win. It took all four quarters for the Red Devils to walk out with a record now at 3-0.

Germantown Head Coach is the first African American Head Coach in the program’s history. Coach Gene Robinson has restored a historical program with a winning attitude. They will face Riverdale High School next up as Germantown is now currently ranked as one of the Top 3 football schools in Memphis.
